Brie Code ”The Late Game” + Women in Games panel
About diversity and inclusion in the Games industry.
What is the role and the responsibility of video games in our coming future? Are we headed for a dystopian future or can we use video games to imagine or perhaps even to bring a better world?
KEYNOTE + PANEL + MINGLE
Our special guest Brie Code starts the evening with her talk ”The Late Game”. Afterwards she joins Jenny Nordenborg, Albertina Sparrhult and Anne Reid on a discussion panel curated by Women in Games – south Sweden and moderated by Ann-Sofie Sydow. More information about our participants below.
THE LATE GAME – The internet has changed our lives radically compared to our parents’ lives. We have new challenges: the wealth divide, global warming, automation, AI, access to relevant education, internet harassment, individually targeted propaganda, overstimulation.
Meanwhile, we are already living in alternate realities through our phones and laptops and soon will be immersed in a mix of physical reality/AR/VR. What does this mean for the role and the responsibility of video games in our coming future? Are we headed for a dystopian future or can we use video games to imagine or perhaps even to bring a better world?
Brie Code is a game designer, speaker, writer, and the CEO and creative director of Tru Luv Media, a video game studio making games with people who find games boring. Previously she was a lead programmer at Ubisoft Montreal on the soft, ethereal game Child of Light and three Assassin’s Creed games. Her favourite games are This War of Mine, Skyrim, and The Colonel’s Bequest.
