“Myror i benen Svan i hals” (Ants in Legs Swan in Neck) is an exhibition by artist, author and illustrator Freja Erixån. Step into a scenery of nonsense, norms, paper and social complexities – where contrasts are in focus both in imagery as well as storytelling.
Freja Erixån’s art has a distinct naive imagery and nerve, often reinforced with words and sharp humour. She works with images contrasting edgy messages, addressing the themes of norms that limit, chafe and disturb.
The exhibition at Inkonst is created on-site with murals, drawings, sculptures and fabrics becoming a spatial installation that flows, confuses and meets the visitor in a direct manner.
Freja Erixån (born 1990 in Gävle) is a Malmö based artist whose art is expressed in drawings, paintings, texts, comics and books. Her art, which is aimed at both children and adults, is obviously playful and disarming, but also has a clear intention to not be at ease, and to flip the world, and how we look at it, upside down.
Freja has exhibited at places like Stenungsunds konsthall, Galleri Thomassen, Galleri REDAN, Sandvikens konsthall and Göteborgs Stadsbibliotek. Her series and illustrations have been published in Galago, Flamman and Tecknaren. Her book debut “Over my dead body” was published by Kartago in 2019. It highlights the inner crisis of trying and failing to live up to what is considered normal. The sequel “Bakom begäret bredvid behaget”, which came out in 2021 via the same publisher, follows the same path of social complexity, humour and hidden desires. Freja also holds workshops for children and youth on the theme of comics and critique of norms.
