John Venkiah Trio – release ”Elevation”

The Malmö-based jazz trio

John Venkiah Trio, who’s last album was released in 2014, will be playing music from the new album which consists of only original tunes.

John Venkiah Trio began playing together in 2010 and have ever since been playing on stages around Scandinavia. The trio released their album ”Things Change” in 2014 on the label Volenza, and did a well acclaimed concert at the Ystad Sweet Jazz Festival the same year, which was mentioned in magazines Downbeat och Wall street Journal.

John Venkiah Trio have recorded their second full-length album which will be released in October this year.

Venkiah’s original tunes and tonal language affect the groups sound with both nordic melancholia and playfulness. The influences vary, with roots among legends such as Ella Fitzgerald, Duke Ellington and piano-giants Keith Jarrett and Brad Mehldau.
