Olibanum: Linnea Talp
Streams of clear, fresh air are majestically pumped into winter-heavy windpipes. Are we talking about Linnea Talp's effect on the art museum's baroque organ, or on all of us in attendance? Yes.
THIS CONCERT TAKES PLACE AT MALMÖ KONSTMUSEUM
Linnéa Talp is a composer and musician (singer/organist), based in Stockholm. In the spring of 2022, her instrumental solo debut Arch of Motion was released on Thanatosis, with music written for church organ, with subtle elements of voice, bass clarinet and flute. Participants being Mariam Wallentin, Christer Bothén, Martin Küchen and Alex Zethson.
The process began during a residency at Ställbergs Gruva and has largely been about trying to create an extended musical movement based on breathing and presence.
Arch of Motion was included in Soundohm’s “Best of 2022”, and has, among other things, mentioned by The Guardian, Groove and Electronica. In the past year, Linnéa has appeared in contexts such as Norberg festival, Lumen Project, Organ Sound Art Festival and Café OTO.
At Olibanum, Linnéa will perform works from Arch of Motion, reworked for the baroque organ in Skovgaardsalen, as well as newly written music composed specifically for this instrument.
The concert series Olibanum weaves together classical expressions with contemporary experimental music and is made in collaboration with Inkonst.
Olibanum is a fragrant resin that for thousands of years has been a precious and sought-after ingredient in incense – not least in church contexts. This “pure incense” is considered, among other things, to contribute to deeper breathing, calmness and self-esteem.
The concert is included in the admission to Malmö Art Museum and Malmöhus castle, first come, first served. The doors open at about 2.30 pm
