RIYL: acoustic meets electronic, experimentalism, interdisciplinary art, ambient.
Sonja Bahlenberg is a percussionist and composer focusing on marimba and electronics. Since 2019, she has owned a rosewood marimba, which she maintains by composing music for and with it. In 2021, she formed the band Sonny och Vargen, which plays original music, and with the group, she has performed on stages in Örebro, Stockholm, and Gothenburg. In 2023, she composed and performed the piece “STENAR DROPPAR MÄNNISKAN – evighet formar ändlighet”, which premiered at Gotland Museum in Visby the same
year.
Sonja Bahlenberg lives in Malmö, where she is working on a music project supported by the Swedish Arts Grants Committee. In an experimental ambient style, the project explores the harmony between sine waves and marimba, based on a personal experience in a hearing test room at an audiologist’s Clinic.
