The Labyrinth – Marie Topp

A choreographic work that reflects on time and existence

“The encounter takes place in a system with clearly marked entrances and exits. We all have directions to follow. The actual distances are impossible to grasp. We may watch the scenario from a distance but can only navigate in close proximity.

We move through a landscape. We walk in an ever-accelerating nature. We hallucinate. Slowly, the surroundings wear on our imagination. We must dare to move, get lost and follow dead ends to see through the logic that is present.”

The Labyrinth is the first work in a new series consisting of three reflections on time and existence, staged in different formats, spaces and temporalities. A new choreographic work by choreographer Marie Topp in close collaboration with lighting designer Mårten K Axelsson and composer Julia Giertz.

Marie Topp is a choreographer and a dancer. She graduated from The National School of Performing Arts in Denmark in 2009. She has collaborated with a number of art-institutions in Denmark, Sweden and Germany, ie. Atalante, MDT, Kampnagel, Bora Bora, Reykjavik Dance Festival, Dansehallerne, Teater Momentum, Dansstationen and Inkonst. Topp recently premiered “Hail to the Good Listener”, an ensemble work commissioned by Danish Dance Theatre.
