The Sunset Suite – Poste Restante
You are summoned as an unknown heir to a historical inheritance. The era of the white man has come to an end, and it’s time to distribute his assets and privileges among the surviving generations.
Location: Scandic Kramer ● ca 75 min ● SV/ENG ● 18+
Who will now be allowed to speak without interruption? Whose taste in music will be restored to the canon? And who gets the key to the minibar?
The Sunset Suite is a participatory performance work about guilt and reparation. Drawing on John Rawls’ theory of justice, the writings of Tennessee Williams and Johnny Cash’s final album, the piece invites us to examine our position within the global power structure. It might be smooth, it might be painful – either way, funeral coffee will be served.
Poste Restante is a critically acclaimed performance collective that has been producing large-scale works since 2007, both in Sweden and internationally. Working site- and situation-specifically, they invite audiences to unexpected places like abandoned offices, churches open at night, anonymous back alleys and inaccessible embassy villas. Their performance spaces are hyper-realistic, functional, and entirely at the disposal of the visitors. Previous works include Kamratföreningen Leviathan, Njutningens Ekonomi, and most recently General Public.
