Catharsis (from Greek κάθαρσις, katharsis, meaning “purification” or “cleansing” or “clarification”) is purgation of emotions through dramatic art, or any extreme emotional state that results in renewal and restoration. With focus on high quality techno and rave culture, Catharsis honors nostalgia and celebrates decadence, liberation and energy in its highest form. Characterized by emotive melodies and hard-hitting drums, the duality of euphoria and melancholy defines the storytelling of Catharsis. It’s a peak time, cutting edge sugar rush designed for dancefloors.
ROSATI (SOMETHING HAPPENING SOMEWHERE / BE AS ONE / VOLTAGE IMPRINT )
Rosati is a DJ and producer delivering hand crafted music. His artistic identity is defined on delivering futuristic techno rooted in the late 90’s. Raised in Italy and based in The Netherlands, his unique style is a blend of percussive sounds, funky grooves and remarkable melodies. Through his hybrid setup of analogue and digital instruments, his stand-out tracks have been released on labels like Voltage Imprint, Be As One, Sungate and Frenzy.
Versatile musician, he is capable of shaping a big amount of sounds by playing with drum machines, synthesizers, microphones and computers. No matter what instrument, the personality of Rosati will always emerge resulting in a proper and striking sound, adaptable to many different environments.
Latest release ’Encounter EP’ on Something Happening Somewhere showcases his excellent high impact techno from Amsterdam, where Francesco Rosati found his home. Rosati calls his new EP a statement to his stylistic musical output, using a hybrid setup of vintage analog machines and digital devices. For ’Encounter’ he wanted to grab the spirit of the moment. All five tracks were recorded directly in a single take, capturing pure energy. The whole EP is a respectful nod to Detroit masters like Robert Hood and Jeff Mills while it also winks back to the menacing UK techno sound of the 90s.

KANYL (KLUBB DÖDEN / RITUAL)
Techno veteran and local legend Kanyl has been setting the scene on fire for over 20 years with his razor sharp mixing and a perfectly curated vinyl collection of high quality techno. Part of the former Malmö crew Klubb Döden, Kanyl works his magic by embracing eccentricity and sonic chaos, while operating his craft with utmost tenderness. To him it’s all about exploring and reinventing, merging pieces together and creating something new; something entirely his own.
With a deep knowledge and understanding for music, Kanyl embodies the peculiar and unconventional sides of it, catering a full body experience where no one is left untouched. His sets are kinetic and edgy rides that keep you on your toes, filled with unique textures and unexpected turns, yet tinged with a dazzling clarity of pieces that speak together.
Blessing Catharsis with a premiere worthy of the name, Kanyl is now invited once again — this time for the 1 year anniversary. As Shakespeare said: ”The wheel has come full circle”. Brace yourselves.
JOSEFINE HELLSTRÖM (CATHARSIS / ALLEYCAT ANTHEM)
It’s the contrasts that get you. Sharp edges soft to the touch, like translucent lace on sun-cracked asphalt. For Josefine Hellström, melancholy and euphoria are not opposites – they’re inseparable. The enraptured flash when a child finally catches a beautiful butterfly. The wistful moment seconds later when she opens her hands and finds the fragile being lifeless. It’s all there. Josefine Hellström has found a way to capture that duality in her music and in her sets.
Moving through an intoxicating, unpredictable array of rough breakbeats – it is the raw tonality and temperament that makes Josefine a fearsome reputation as a selector. Straight to the point with elements of colorful melodies, reflected through infectious tribal-esque rhythms and rugged cut UK bass – is what appears throughout her music and in her sets. As a music collector, Josefine’s preferred format as a DJ is vinyl and her techno is a powerful intent to build tension, climaxing into a frenzy of emotions, and also the reason why Josefine is one of the most sought-after DJs in the Scandinavian region.
After almost 10 years in the industry as a DJ, producer and organizer affiliated with crews like Klubb Döden and Alleycat Anthem in Malmö, 2022 marked the premiere of Josefine’s club Catharsis as a part of her residency at Inkonst.
