Grand River + Mokira

Grand River is a Dutch-Italian composer and poly-instrumentalist producer based in Berlin.

Influenced by classical minimal music, her work integrates a large variety of sound structures and symphonic calculations in which she crafts absorbing experimental and ambient narrations combining traditional composition with contemporary sound research.

Her first release Crescente, was released via Spazio Disponibile in 2017 and was named one of the best releases of the year by XLR8R. Since then, her work has been presented in festivals and venues across the world such as Berghain, Mutek, Mapping Festival, Nachtdigital, Le Guess Who, De School, Paral·lel Festival, The Labyrinth, Funkhaus, and many more.

Her full-length debut album, Pineapple , followed in 2018 on Spazio Disponibile along with participations on Ghostly International and the Australian Longform Editions in 2019. In September 2020 she released Blink A Few Times To Clear Your Eyes on Editions Mego.

One of Andreas Tilliander’s many monikers, Mokira saw the light with the by now classic 2000 release ‘Cliphop’ on Raster-Noton. Mokira is known for a highly personal sound and with that first album, he almost single handedly started the glitchy hip-hop sound that Mille Plateaux most notably fell for. It swiftly brought Andreas to the limelight as a respected and revered name in the electronic music scene. Since then, an mind-boggling amount of releases has followed and with this, his sound has progressed and developed steadily, most notably with the widely acclaimed 2018 Kontra-Musik release ‘Chill Out’, an ambient epos and a sort of disintegrated culmination of Mokira’s sound.
