A highlight of Intonal is the transition from the cozy confines of our home venue, Inkonst, to diverse and intriguing locations scattered across Malmö. This year, alongside our annual concert at the majestic S:t Johannes kyrka, we will also venture within the atmospheric brick gothic architecture of S:t Petri kyrka, which dates back to the 14th century. A sonic journey within a church lies in the profound, sacred, and meditative ambiance it creates. Come experience it for yourself.

DJ Digge Shim
The Spanish-born producer, aka Dip Shim, relocated to Malmö some years back and found his calling in the reincarnation of electro through his relentless output of acid-flavored 303 jams. Besides establishing the Malmø Traxx label, he also previously ran the city’s foremost record shop for electronic dance music. As Digge Shim, his work is focused on medieval-ambient inspired by Gregorian chants, leftfield experiments, and downtempo, all of which takes forefront for this special Intonal set.
Ka Baird
The New York-based artist, multi-instrumentalist, producer, and performer is characterized by live solo opera performances merging flute and other woodwind instruments, vocals, and microphone techniques with dynamic body movements. Baird is known for an authentic, euphoric exploration of boundaries and is one of the core members of the American psychedelic folk band Spire That In The Sunset Rise. They have performed at various venues such as Unsound Festival (Krakow), Museum of Contemporary Art (Chicago), MoMA PS1 (New York), and Festival Of Endless Gratitude (Copenhagen), and are a recipient of the Foundation of Contemporary Art’s Emergency Grant, a Jerome Foundation Artist-In-Residence at Roulette Intermedium, and is a 2023-2025 Jerome Hill Artist Fellow.
Goran Kajfeš & Andreas Tilliander ‘In Cmin’ *
Following a sold out performance at Inkonst in 2020, this duo featuring one of Sweden’s most celebrated trumpet players and one of its most respected electronic musicians returns for the world premiere of a new piece. The pair present In Cmin – a nod to Terry Riley’s iconic In C – a work in C minor.
While Tilliander and Kajfeš come from very different musical backgrounds, they have found in each other a like-minded curiosity alongside the desire to constantly search for new ways to challenge both themselves and the audience. In this analog meets digital, jazz marries electronic collaboration, Kajfeš’s penchant for brass rhythm and pulse dovetails beautifully with Tilliander’s experimentation and diverse electronic sound world.
Maxime Denuc
The Brussels-based electronic composer is the co-founder of Plapla Pinky, a duo noted for their atypical approach to club music, somewhere between rave, baroque, and contemporary music. However, for some years now, his solo work has focused on church organs. In 2020, he released Solarium on the Belgian label Vlek: this organ-centric record relies on the emotional potency of sunrise to spawn an experience that is both musical and social. Two years later, he presented Nachthorn, for MIDI church organ. The album was critically acclaimed, notably by Boomkat which selected it in their top ten records of 2022.
In addition to his composer activities, Denuc works with performing arts and also devotes himself to research. He graduated in 2019 with a master’s degree from EHESS Paris in Theories and Practices of Language and Arts. For this edition of Intonal, Denuc will perform on the MIDI organ of St Petri Church with compositions from Nachthorn and from an upcoming release.
