KALLELSE #7 – CURIOUS OBJECTS
with Yi Ten Lai, Ragnhild May and Laure Boer
KALLELSE is a concert series exploring experimental ways of performing electronic music. For the second installment of this spring season, the theme is curious objects, with artists who build and investigate acoustic objects.
Featuring Yi Ten Lai (DK), Ragnhild May (DK) and Laure Boer (GE)
The artists introduce themselves as follows:
Yi Ten Lai:
”Yi Ten Lai (b.1996, Spain, based in Denmark) is an artist exploring transculturality and identity through materials, sounds and symbols, challenging conventional notions of otherness & belonging. Rooted in their Andalusian and Hongkongese heritage, the contemporary iterations of traditional crafts and rites become the focal point of their work. Their performance “Materialising in Sound, the Air,” is an exploration of the Taoist concept of emptiness translated into materiality. With this work Yi Ten Lai draws attention to the invisible, making audible and undeniable the void and hollowness that has long been metaphorically associated with essences.”

Ragnhild May:
”With a background in visual arts and music composition, Ragnhild May combines a sculptural practice with performance and sound art. She works with sound installation, sculptural objects, performance, vinyl releases, graphic notation, text and instrument technology. Sound is the material focal point for her works. Ragnhild May holds an MFA from Bard College (US) and is currently a PhD fellow at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts (DK).”

Laure Boer:
”Laure Boer is a multi-instrumentalist based in Berlin. Her music is inspired by noise music and traditional folk. Her performances are hypnotic improvisations around traditional instruments, electroacoustic and DIY-electronic objects, and sometimes a voice, singing or reciting in her native French; a vibrant universe that is both vulnerable and brutal. She’s currently working with the Danish artist Marie-Louise Andersson on a sound performative installation for Brønshøj water tower in Copenhagen in August 2024.”
