Selvhenter + Nacka Forum

Inkonst and Jazz i Malmö present: Selvhenter’s addictive sound is created by a foundation of strong polyrhythms, heavy riffs, pop-like melodies and texturized walls of sound. Manipulated horns give the music a special sense of timbre and creates a myriad of overtones and frequencies.

Selvhenter’s music is equally beautiful and danceable in its own distinct style pulling from art rock, noise, drone and improvisation – Emotional, almost cinematic sequences within a evolved rhythmic sensibility and a tactile universe of sound. The four members of the band are all well-known musicians on the Scandinavian and international experimental music scenes alike, and can be seen in projects and bands such as Meshes, Ymers Pizza, Frk. Jacobsen, Gud Er Kvinde, Valby Vokalgruppe, SOLW, Jaleh Negari and Sonja Labianca.
Around the time of this performance, Selvhenter will be releasing their new album – be sure to keep your eyes and ears out for that.
Nacka Forum is THE jazz super group, initiated and shaped by some of Swedens most notable instrumentalist – Jonas Kullhammar, Goran Kajfes, Johan Berthling and Kjell Nordeson and latest addition – the very Danish, notorious drummer Kresten Osgood (who, according to some, could easily be billed as one man show, but that’s a completely different story)
With powerful timbre and raw instrumentalism, Nacka Forum brings a type of free form jazz in the vein of Rahsaan Roland Kirk or Ornette Coleman, but re-sculptures it in their own hyper-idiosyncratic manner. Tongue in cheek playfulness with album titles such as ”Så stopper festen” and ”We are the world” (yes, the album cover is constituted by a youtube video screen shot of a cat in a party hat) sit together with high octane boldness creating a wonky equally serious jazz experience that makes us long a little extra for this dear revisit.
Together these two absolutely insane groups will assemble for a grand spring time double bill that we present in close collaboration with the gracious promoter Jazz i Malmö.
