Rooted in tradition, unafraid of distortion — L’arannà reclaims the sound of the Pityusic Islands for the present tense.

With voices like ancestral echoes and synths that shimmer like salt, they make memory pulse with voltage.

Formed by Anna Sala and Lara Magrinyà, L’arannà is a duo carving out space at the intersection of folk ritual and electronic experimentation. Trained in classical music but steeped in the oral legacies of Ibiza and Formentera, they wield instruments like the castanet, espasí, and flaüta alongside synths and sampling, creating a sonic language that is both archival and radically alive.

More than just interpreters of tradition, they are reanimators — unearthing cant redoblat and glosses from the sound archives and threading them through a contemporary, deeply personal frame. Their 2024 debut album La salamandra explored literary surrealism; with their latest project Turmarí, they turn their lens inward, toward the cultural and sonic DNA of the islands themselves.

Whether on stage in Catalonia or at showcases across the globe, L’arannà’s performances are multisensory invocations — charged with ancestral memory, feminist energy, and the ambient undercurrent of Ibiza’s complex nightlife. This is folk without borders, ritual without repetition, and protest with melody.
