Emerging from the shadows of Bursa, Turkey, SHE PAST AWAY has carved out a singular space in the global dark wave underground. With Volkan Caner’s deadpan baritone and Doruk Öztürkcan’s laced machines, their sound is all minimal menace and melancholy glamour—a sleek, Turkish-language incantation of existential dread wrapped in dancefloor hypnosis.
Since their cult EP Kasvetli Kutlama dropped in 2009, they’ve gone on to define a genre while refusing to be confined by it. Their debut LP Belirdi Gece (2012) became an instant classic, followed by Narin Yalnızlık (2015) and the disco-noir masterpiece Disko Anksiyete (2019). Their world is one of fog machines and flickering strobes, where Bauhaus meets Suicide in a basement rave. The 2020 remix album X—featuring reworks by Boy Harsher, Lebanon Hanover, and The Soft Moon—only cemented their cult status.
Support on this night comes from Malmö’s own welle cult, Abu Nein—local heroes with hearts wired to vintage synths and cinematic gloom.
