The nightlife is currently facing major challenges. Not least in Malmö, a city with a rich history of a strong and vibrant nightlife that has been a breeding ground for new expressions and a DIY-spirit. Political decisions, the pandemic, inflation, and the global situation have hit nightlife hard. Even though there are still fighting spirit, commitment, and knowledge to embrace.
To regain a strong club culture and put Malmö back on the map as a vibrant night city, politics needs to make re-prioritizations. Many of us are working to get the infrastructure going again, but we still feel that something is missing. The steps between the dance floor and the corridors in the town hall feel miles apart.
As part of the PULSE project, we are now inviting you to a panel discussion. We stop talking about the problems and start talking with those who have the power to change the conditions. In this, we have invited politicians from Malmö's leading parties to answer the questions that actually matter to us who organize, create, and visit the city's club scene.
So come and take part in a conversation for those who work within or are interested in the future of Malmö's nightlife. Take the opportunity to ask your questions about club culture to the politicians.
We offer cheese sandwiches and non-alcoholic drinks!
Where: Inkonst, Bergsgatan 29.
When: June 3, 5-8 PM
How: Open to all, but you need to book a free ticket here.
What: We have collected questions directly from Malmö's club scene – everything from the lack of venues to the interest in creating vibrant neighborhoods and safer environments. Now it's time for the politicians to present their parties' visions. How will they work to ensure that club culture gets the legitimacy and resources it deserves?
Participants: Representatives from Vänsterpartiet, Socialdemokraterna, Kristdemokraterna, Miljöpartiet, Moderaterna, Liberalerna and Centerpartiet. Sverigedemokraterna have declined.
Moderator: Viktor Flarkell
