Rhythm mutates into something unruly in the hands of Los Pirañas. Drawing from the deep musical traditions of Colombia, the trio twists familiar forms into hypnotic, unpredictable excursions where groove, distortion and playfulness move as one.
Formed by three of Colombia's most adventurous musicians—Eblis Álvarez (Meridian Brothers), Mario Galeano (Frente Cumbiero, Ondatrópica) and Pedro Ojeda (Romperayo)—Los Pirañas have spent nearly three decades reshaping tropical music from the inside. Vallenato, cumbia, champeta and Peruvian chicha become raw material for restless experimentation, propelled by wiry guitar lines, elastic bass, explosive percussion and a fearless instinct for improvisation.
Their music refuses nostalgia. It expands tradition into something alive and elastic, balancing meticulous musicianship with surreal detours and an infectious sense of momentum. Every outing unfolds with the energy of a band willing to follow an idea wherever it leads, shifting effortlessly between intricate rhythmic interplay, noisy textures and irresistible dancefloor propulsion.
The trio has built a devoted international following through appearances at festivals including Roskilde, Druga Godba and Best Kept Secret, establishing themselves as one of the defining voices in Colombia's contemporary underground. Following Historia Natural (2019), their return brings a new chapter with fresh material set for release on Glitterbeat, reaffirming their singular approach to psychedelic tropical music.

Southern Sweden-based Cumbiasound approach cumbia as both a living tradition and a space for mutation. Founded by producer Daniel Fridell in 2010 after encountering the music while travelling in Colombia, the project brings together Fridell with Chilean musicians Boogie Castillo and Lis Flores Varela. Moving between chicha, cumbia rebajada, champeta and son palenque, they fold these influences into a sound also shaped by hip hop, jazz, funk, Balkan and progressive music, pairing deep grooves with lyrics centred on unity, peace and social awareness.
With performances from Europe to Japan, millions of streams and cross-continental collaborations, Cumbiasound have built an international audience around their particular take on nu-cumbia. For this evening, they strip things back to a trio for a special sound system-style set, connecting cumbia’s histories of movement and exchange with its restless contemporary forms. DJ: Super Muñeca
Joining the night is Malmö-based producer, DJ and cultural curator Super Muñeca, the musical project of Lora Grigorova. Drawing on years immersed in cumbia and its contemporary mutations, her sets move through electronic and urban rhythms from across Hispanic America, weaving genres and geographies into a fluid, high-energy trip built for the dancefloor. As artistic director of Malmö’s Congona Festival and production manager of Wakan Tanka Prod and Wakan Tanka Records, she brings a deep connection to the scene behind the selections.
