Eva Quartet

The Eva Quartet consists of some of the best Bulgarian voices - the four solo singers of the world famous choir "Le Mystere des Voix Bulgares". The group was spontaneously founded in 1995 and they immediately found a common language and interests. Thus, an unadultered atmosphere was developing at concerts and the audience had the impression of listening to one multilayered voice. The singers are in command of a very virtuous and impressive singing style which is based on an excellent technique of singing.

They are looking for the purity and primarity of the song while reading tradition in a very modern and varied way.

The whole programme of the quartet contains authentic folklore songs from different parts of Bulgaria, old Bulgarian music and church hymns as well as modern music. 

Eva Quartet has toured in 31 countries in the world and have performed in world famous concert halls like Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Konzerthaus Vienna, Philharmonie Berlin, Gewandhaus Leipzig, CaixaForum Madrid and Barcelona, Palace of Arts Budapest, Koncerthuset Copenhagen, National Museum Singapore and National Concert Hall Taiwan.

Eva Quartet also worked and played together with diferent musicians and groups like: Amarcord, Trio Mediaeval, VeDaKi Group, Haig Yazdjian, A Filletta, Elbtonal Schlagwerk, Gilles Apap, Antoni Donchev, Zoltan Lantos, Banda Adriatica, Unni Løvlid, Trebunie Tutki, Bea Palya, Dalinda, Bulgara Group etc. Also with Orchesrta like Symphonic Orchestra of the Opera House Paris, Woman Symphonic Orchestra Bogota / Columbia, Bulgarian National Folk Orchestra / Sofia.

The quartet also worked with modern composers like Veselin Nikolov, Krassimir Kjurkchiski, Krzesimir Debski and Sandra Kolstad. 

2011 Eva Quartet realize together with the French composer Hector Zazou “The Arch” is one of the most outstanding recordings and biggest projects in the history of World Music, featuring more than 50 musicians from 14 different countries like: Laurie Anderson, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Robert Fripp, Bill Frisell, Nils Petter Molvær, Djiavan Gasparian, Carlos Nunez, Bollywood String Orchestra, Mehdi Haddab etc. 

The Arch is the metaphorical place where ancient traditions and magical voices meet contemporary feelings, amazing talent, masterly techniques, fame and pure creative spirit in order to create music that connects the best of music.
