Egil Kalman

His music draws parallels between folk music and contemporary electroacoustic music through minimalist compositional techniques and soulful improvisations. With clean intervals, hypnotic forms, synthetic sounds that imitate the acoustic and vice versa, he explores elements of folk music and puts them in a new light. The music is performed live on modular synths without the use of pre-recorded material.

His debut album as a folk music synthesist 'Nordafjells', which focuses on songs from the strong Setesdal tradition, will be released on Supertraditional in November. He has two albums out on iDeal Recordings.
