A man stands between the past and the present, trying to understand who he is when what was once obvious is no longer there.
The New Country is a monologue about identity, belonging, and the internal consequences of migration. Through a personal yet universally relatable story, it explores what happens when the concept of home loses its obvious meaning, and the responsibility that comes with carrying multiple worlds within oneself.
The performance moves between memory and the present, between humor and vulnerability. With a physical and intimate stage expression, Ibrahim Faal portrays a person in motion between different worlds, expectations, and heritage.
The audience is invited into a space where identity is not fixed, but something that is constantly renegotiated, shaped by history, language, responsibility, and the gazes of others.
