Bitchin Bajas make music for extended states of attention, built from repetition, sustained tones and subtle shifts in texture. For more than fifteen years, the Chicago trio have developed a patient instrumental language of drones, pulses and acoustic resonance, giving each sound plenty of room to linger.

Founded in 2010 as a solo project by Cooper Crain of Cave, Bitchin Bajas gradually expanded with Dan Quinlivan and Rob Frye into its current three-piece formation. Early home-recorded cassette experiments established an approach that still runs through their music: synthesizers, organ, guitar, flute and saxophone arranged in loops and long, slowly evolving patterns. Minimalism, kosmische music and exploratory electronics provide some coordinates, with the influence of figures such as Terry Riley, Cluster and Harmonia audible without weighing down the trio’s own distinctive vocabulary.

Across records including Bitchitronics, Bajas Fresh, Bajascillators and 2025’s Inland See, Bitchin Bajas favour duration, repetition and close listening. Their collaborative work extends the same open-ended approach, with projects alongside Natural Information Society and Bonnie “Prince” Billy.

Opening the evening is 55 Cancri e, the long-running solo project of Malmö multidisciplinary artist Sara Hausenkamp. Improvisation sits at the centre of her practice, with layers of guitar and voice accumulating into dense, emotionally charged sound fields. Distortion, repetition and open space shape music that can feel intimate, expansive and slightly untethered. Hausenkamp has released work through Music For Dreams, Midira Records, SKÖRD, Mima Kassett and Civic Sounds, and has previously shared bills with Fennesz, Drew McDowall, Jessica Moss, Marisa Anderson and Circuit des Yeux.
